Equal Opportunities: “Housing and Employment for the homeless”

At a time when living conditions have become even more difficult for a significant part of the population, Equal Society and the municipalities of South Corfu and Central Corfu and Overseas Islands are taking joint action to support our most vulnerable fellow citizens.

In particular, the Municipality of Central Corfu and the Overseas Islands and the Municipality of South Corfu,  in collaboration with Equal Society, have started the implementation of the "Equal Opportunities" project, within the "Housing and Employment for the Homeless" program, which funded by the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs.

The project, with a total budget of €356,962.38 and duration of 24 months, aims to provide support to individuals and families living in homelessness in Central and South Corfu. Its activities include:

  • housing rehabilitation of 15 beneficiary households (individuals and families),
  • inclusion of at least 20% of the adult beneficiaries, who are able to work, in subsidized work and the inclusion of 10% of the beneficiaries in subsidized vocational skills acquisition programs, and
  • promotion of the social integration of the beneficiaries through their psychosocial empowerment and the interconnection with complementary social benefits and services.

Through these actions, the partners seek to provide a multi-level network of services to the target group, thus contributing to addressing the phenomenon of homelessness in the intervention areas.
