Equal Opportunities: "Housing and Employment for the Homeless" 2024

In a period where living conditions have become even more challenging for a significant portion of the population, Equal Society, along with the municipalities of Southern Corfu and Central Corfu and the Diapontia Islands, is taking joint action to support our most vulnerable fellow citizens.

Specifically, the Municipality of Central Corfu and Diapontia Islands and the Municipality of Southern Corfu, in collaboration with Equal Society, have launched the project "EQUAL OPPORTUNITIES" under the program "Housing and Employment for the Homeless," which is funded by the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs.

The project, with a total budget of €356,962.38 and duration of 24 months, aims to provide support to individuals and families living in homelessness in Central and Southern Corfu. The overall goal of the program is to contribute to the elimination of homelessness, with the following specific objectives identified:

  1. The immediate transition of beneficiary households to autonomous forms of living through the provision of housing and social care services.
  2. The mobilization for the reintegration of beneficiary households into the social fabric, through the provision of counseling and labor reintegration services.
  3. The inclusion of 20% of all adult beneficiaries who are capable of working in job placements subsidized by the program, and 10% in subsidies for acquiring professional skills.
  4. The further development of collaboration among services to address homelessness.
