“People’s Meals” Social Soup kitchen (Municipality of Lefkada)

Objective of the Structure

The Social Soup Kitchen in the Municipality of Lefkada, implemented by our Organization in collaboration with the Holy Metropolis of Lefkada and Ithaca, hosts more than 100 visitors every day, offering quality and nutritious meals in a welcoming space.

The basic objective of the structure's operation is to deal with the food problem in parallel, however, with the implementation of actions for the support and social integration of its visitors.

Services

From the beginning of the operation of the structure our priority has been the holistic support of the visitors. Thus, we provide:

Lunch full meal,
Psychosocial Care & Empowerment,
Writing a CV,
Find a Job – Connect with local businesses,
Provision of basic necessities,
Scholarships - Educational Support for Children/Adolescents,
Creative Employment Workshop, and
Professional Reintegration.

Beneficiaries

Beneficiaries of the Social Soup kitchen are individuals and households who reside in the Municipality of Lefkada, based on social and economic criteria as well as relevant evidence are in a state of poverty or threatened by poverty (e.g. GREEK FUND FOR EUROPEAN AID TO THE MOST DEPRIVED (FEAD/ΤΕΒΑ) beneficiaries, people with very low and/or zero annual income, legally resident citizens of 3rd countries or stateless and applicants for international protection).

Basic registration documents

In order to join the Social Forum in the Municipality of Lefkada, the visitor is asked to present the following supporting documents:

Photocopy of ID or passport,
Photocopy of bill or proof of permanent residence or lease or proof of homelessness,
Certificate of marital status,
Recent bank statement, and
Social Security Registration Number (AMKA) certificate.

The additional supporting documents are examined on a case-by-case basis.

Promotional sponsorships

Social giving is a concept that binds people together. If your time is limited, but you still wish to contribute to our efforts to support our most vulnerable fellow citizens, below you will find a list of the most useful promotional products: Long-lasting food (biscuits, preserves, jams, honey, pulses, pasta, rice, cereal, long-life milk) kitchen paper, toilet paper, paper towels, paper tablecloths, baby wipes, hand soap, trash bags, cleaners.

Social reintegration actions

The initiatives planned by the Structure’s staff have as their central axis the awareness and information of visitors and the general public.

Since the first year of operation of the Structure, employees and volunteers have been carrying out informative street work actions, workshops and counseling seminars with the aim of informing the visitors of the Structure and the public of Lefkada about issues that concern them such as benefits, insurance and others.

At the same time, every year Scholarships are offered for teaching foreign languages to children from families in need.

Become a volunteer

Volunteering is an act of selfless giving that contributes to the overall well-being of society. It is an attitude of life that helps to improve the conditions in the social environment and the volunteer as an individual. So if you are interested in donating your time to the Social Forum of the Municipality of Lefkada, then complete your application. The volunteer can contribute either to the practical process of providing food (serving and then cleaning) or to more organizational positions such as finding sponsorships and/or planning/coordinating creative activities.
