The Theater Group Embarks on a Stone Soup Journey
It was a night of solidarity with admission being a bag of food items, which were collected for the social soup kitchen "People's Meals" in Kolonos.
The self-taught actors, individuals who found themselves on the margins due to the economic crisis and social problems, managed to touch and entertain the audience, who did not cease to applaud them, inspiring them.
The performance, "Embarking on a Stone Soup Journey," told the story of three wise men crossing a mountainous country, trying to learn what makes people happy. Their journey brings them to a village where the inhabitants live in fear - they constantly keep their windows closed and their rooms dark. This is because some years ago, some attackers had assaulted and tormented them. Since then, each one of them views not only every stranger who comes to their lands with suspicion but even their own neighbor. But when the three monks teach them how to make stone soup, the villagers discover how much each one of them has to offer to others, and how much they can receive in return.
After the end of the performance, the audience congratulated the members of the theater group "Walkabout" and had the opportunity to converse with them about their experience with drama therapy, which helped them evolve into fully functional members of the social fabric.
The performance was honored by the presence of representatives from leading private companies, public benefit foundations, and the Municipality of Athens, among others, including the president of the Municipal Nursery Mrs. Popi Giannopoulou, who once again supported the action of Equal Society.
The evening ended with smiles and the promise that everyone's rendezvous will be renewed at the next performance of the theater group "Walkabout" by Equal Society.
