"Him and Him"

The homeless theater group "Walkabout" of Equal Society presented the performance "Him and Him" with resounding success on Monday, July 26, in the presence of the President of the Hellenic Republic, Mrs. Katerina Sakellaropoulou. Welcomed by Mr. Spyros Fremantitis, President of the Board of Directors of Equal Society, and Mrs. Anna Rokofyllou, President of the Organization of Culture, Sports, and Youth of the Municipality of Athens, the President of the Republic attended the event at the Open Theater of Kolonos.

Under the directorial guidance of Panagiotis Dorlis, the homeless theater group "Walkabout" delivered a captivating evening filled with messages, emotions, and heartfelt performances, bringing to life the remarkable text by Kostas Mourselas. Alongside them, honored guests included Mr. George Michalakopoulos, renowned for his exceptional portrayal of Mourselas' text, and Vasilis Diamantopoulos. Mr. Michalakopoulos, a source of inspiration for the Walkabout Homeless Theater Group, shared a touching moment with each member, expressing gratitude for their evocative performances.

The remarkable efforts of the homeless theater group were acknowledged by the presence of the Minister of Labor and Social Affairs, Mr. Kostis Hatzidakis. Greetings were extended by Mr. Spyros Fremantitis, President of Equal Society, Mr. George Stamatis, General Secretary of Social Solidarity and Poverty Alleviation, and Mrs. Anna Rokofyllou, President of the Organization of Culture, Sports, and Youth of the Municipality of Athens. Mr. Fremantitis emphasized the transformative power of art and culture in elevating and rebuilding souls. He highlighted the symbolic change made in the performance, featuring two female protagonists, to shed light on the historical challenges faced by women and the imperative for collective action.

The homeless theater group "Walkabout" of Equal Society, representing a collective of individuals transcending societal boundaries, once again demonstrated resilience, solidarity, love, and hope as essential pillars for navigating adversity and fostering positive change.
